Muniyara Dolmens

Dolems were single chambered megalithic tomb. his is usually consist of two or more vertical megaliths underneath a large horizontal capstone. Such type of many Dolemns van be seen in Marayoor a 55 Km away from Munnar. These Dolems were belong to Neolithic age. The Neolithic age is between 3000 BC to 14000 BC.   Such types of large stone slabs are called megaliths. There are considered to the above ground burial chambers of high cast people. There believed to be from the stone age or megalithic age. These Muniyara Dolmens were attracted by many of the  anthropologists and archaeologists from all over the world.

There are 15 different such Dolemns are available across Marayoor. These Dolmens were situated in beautiful spots surrounded refreshing atmosphere, Teal plantation and blossoming green valleys

Meesapulimala

This considered as the second highest peak in western Ghats after Anamudi. Situated at above 2640 meters above sea level. Meesapulipala means Moustache the Name is called because this formed of eight hills spread like a moustache. This high peak mountain is very fascinating and famous for trekking activities which  are organized by KFDC (Kerala Forest Development Corporation) . While trekking to Meesapulimala you will be walking through the high altitude grass land and mountain rainforest. On the way if you are lucky enough can see  elephants, sambar, sloth bear and the Nilgiri tahr. Nilgiri Tahr is the considered to the endangered species.
