Muniyara Dolmens

Dolems were single chambered megalithic tomb. his is usually consist of two or more vertical megaliths underneath a large horizontal capstone. Such type of many Dolemns van be seen in Marayoor a 55 Km away from Munnar. These Dolems were belong to Neolithic age. The Neolithic age is between 3000 BC to 14000 BC.   Such types of large stone slabs are called megaliths. There are considered to the above ground burial chambers of high cast people. There believed to be from the stone age or megalithic age. These Muniyara Dolmens were attracted by many of the  anthropologists and archaeologists from all over the world.

This considered as the second highest peak in western Ghats after Anamudi. Situated at above 2640 meters above sea level. Meesapulipala means Moustache the Name is called because this formed of eight hills spread like a moustache.
